Last one (sadly)

Our week of camping (sadly) came to a close so we (sadly) packed up our things and (sadly) said goodbye to our family. Then it was on the road again...

Goodbye Site 71 - thanks for having us!

We took a different road home and went north through the Okanagan. It was a beautiful and HOT drive. THANKFULLY we have air conditioning in our truck which made it a very pleasant trip. We left 42 degrees Osoyoos and made our way through the orchards and along the lakes. We stopped for some fruit and were tempted to go cherry picking, but then reconsidered since having little boy strapped to us in blistering heat didn't sound too much fun for any of those involved. So we opted out and just bought a few handfulls of the ones tempting us in the fruit stand. Mmmm - they were yummy!
We continued on our way and actually drove past Brian's brother's place in Vernon, but they were visitng family on Vancouver Island :( What are the chances!
We were planning on stopping for the night around 5 pm near Revelstoke but because it was Saturday night and we didn't make reservations we had a hard time finding a campsite with an open spot. Finally after some very frustrating travelling, a very frustrated back seat passenger, and a VERY ANNOYINGLY long and windy downhill road off the beaten track we pulled up to a campground and once again got the last remaining site. We wouldn't recommend the campsite and probably won't be returning, but we were VERY grateful for a place to park for the night!

Since we had made it further then planned the day before we had extra time to sight see. After a couple hours on the road we stopped for lunch at Misquito Creek. When Brian and his brother drove out to bible college from Vancouver they took a week prior to go camping and this was one of their spots. We went on a little hike and enjoyed the fresh mountain air.



Another short drive and we decided to set up camp early and enjoy one last day in the mountains. We saw a campround sign for 'Crescent Falls' so we turned in. We travelled down another long gravel road and were a bit leary as to what we would find. We came to what looked like a day-use park and saw another sign that pointed the direction for campers....except to get to the road that lead to the campground part you had to first cross the river!? It wasn't a huge crazy flowing river, but a river none the less. Hesitantly we crossed and after a short little drive we came to a beautifully secluded campground. Each campsite was nestled in the trees all which was along the river! It was perfect! We got things set up and after some supper we took a little hike to the river.



Last day:(

(Sadly) our camping adventures came to a close as we set off on our final day of driving. But before heading out and while Kellan was having a nap (he needed all the sleep he could get since all this travelling and being out of his element was really throwing him off) we took our mugs of coffee and sat and chatted by the river. Ahhh....pure relaxing bliss...

As we were driving out we decided to go for a little walk to the falls which was at the day park that we had passed the day before. As we were driving back through the river it dawned on me "I have been here before!" As I walked to the river/falls it all came back to me! I was probably 11 or 12 when my family went camping one summer and we must have come here for the day!

I hate it when Brian does this...I don't know how I am going to handle curious little boys....




We made it home around 3 pm and after some unpacking and much needed yard work, Brian suggested we order-in chinese food as a finale to our vacation (which was also a childhood tradition of his). Great ending to a great holiday!
