NYC!!! Our flight got into the Big Apple around 3:30. Then after finding our bags and waiting for our shuttle (for 2 hours) we made it to our hotel. The hotel wasn't too bad (for $140/night decently close to the attractions) - altho the bed was super hard and it smelled a bit like urine..... We hung out in our room for the evening since we didn't want to venture out into the sketchy part of town.
Day 10:
Busy day! We started our day with breakfast at the hotel. Then we boarded a big van and toured the main attractions of NYC! We started out by stopping at the UN - World Peace Centre. Not much to see but neat none the less.

Then we drove through 'midtown' - so super busy with people walking, taxis, vehicles and nobody paying attention to any signs or lights. Complete chaos really! We drove down 5th avenue then stopped to see the Rockfeller Center and St. Patricks Cathedral.
The Rockfeller Center:

The cathedral is super huge and beautiful. The tour guide said there is a 2 yr. waiting list for weddings - and a wedding there costs $25,000!!!

Then it was on to the Empire State Building. The pictures speak for themselves.
A view from the bottom:

Yellow taxi's everywhere:

And of course how can you go to NY without seeing the Statue of Liberty! We took a ferry over the the island then enjoyed the view!

They had the coolest trees on the island!- they looked like army camouflage trees!

Comparing bellies as we wait to load the ferry back:

The Manhattan Skyline:

And our last stop on the day tour was Ground Zero. We were actually pretty disappointed. All it was, was a whole block blocked off and they were doing construction inside. There was a small cove where they had pictures of what the new World Trade Centre is going to look like and a few tributes but not much.

The only really neat thing was the 2 beams they found that had fallen to make a cross.

We got home at about 7. We were pretty tired from walking around so we had supper then relaxed in bed watching tv.
Day 11:
We woke up early and had breakfast again at the hotel. We then walked a few blocks and caught the subway to midtown Manhattan. We got off at Times Square and made our way into the chaos!

From Times Square we walked over to 5th Ave. We did a bit of shopping.....WINDOW shopping that is! We didn't have the guts to actually go inside the stores but I did make my way into Tiffany's and looked at the diamonds! Brian of course stayed outside :)

We stopped for a hotdog on the street then made our way to relax in Central Park. So beautiful.

After lunch we headed to the NBC studio's and went on a tour. We weren't able to take any pics so you'll have to use your imagination :) We saw the SNL studio (too bad we couldn't see a show), the Today Show studio, and saw how they do makeup, the news and watched a video about the history of NBC. Very cool! They also had a huge NBC store where we got some 'The Office' souveniers and I even got a set of scrubs from the show 'Scrubs'. A definate highlight. They did take our pic at the news desk so here's try at being news anchors:

After that we took the subway again this time to lower Manhattan - the 'financial' district. Our first stop was Wall Street.

Then we went to the New York Stock Exchange - no tours of inside tho :(

Federal Hall

And of course 'The Bull'

After all this walking our feet were getting a bit sore! So we headed back to Central Park and enjoyed the quiet realxing park bench.

We had some more supper from the street food stands (not really sure what they are called) then caught our real live Broadway show!! (earlier in the afternoon we found tickets for 1/2 price - woohoo!) We saw 'Legally Blonde' which was SOOO good! We didn't know what to expect but we were blown away with how amazing a performance it was! Brian even enjoyed it! Another definate highlight!

They obviously didn't let us take pics/vids of the play but here is the stage before the show.

Times Square at night:

After catching the subway back to our hotel we crashed in bed and rested our weary bodies and feet.
Day 12/13:
The morning of our flight home we relaxed at our hotel and walked to a nearby mall. We caught our shuttle back to the airport at noon then had lunch and wandered around waiting for our flight. Unfortunately the weather was really bad and our flight ended up being delayed until 9:30 that night. Then because of the delay we missed our connecting flight and had to stay in Salt Lake City overnight and caught a 10 am flight home.
So, that is basically our trip! I'm sure we won't be taking any big trips like that anytime soon - but we'll look back on it with many good memories for many years to come!

once again, i LOVE the pictures. you guys obviously had a BLAST doing all those things, and seeing all those places. i'm feeling a bit jealous. and can i say you were brave for some of those places you tackled? I'd be scared of times square and stuff, just for how busy it must have been.
way to go!!!
